Kickoff Like a King (or Kween)

Welcome back to The 2x2 - the ultimate newsletter for independent consultants! We're here to ignite your imagination, empower your expertise, and make this Twosday an unforgettable day of discovery.

Get ready for a triple dose of awesomeness in this week’s email:

  1. Our Next Workshop: February 22

This 25-minute workshop will teach you a repeatable way to prepare for client kickoff meetings (AND give you tools).

  2. SCI: Define the Problem in the First 30 Days

In the first 30 days you’ve got to get it right. That starts with getting everyone to understand the problem you’re there to solve. We’ve got a PPT for that.

  3. Feast & Friends: A Supper Club Strategy for Biz Dev

What if you turned your old supper club into an opportunity to develop your relationship with clients? We share our best tips.

1. Best Practices for Project Kickoff Meetings

Get ready for our February 22 workshop, where I’m going to teach you my repeatable way to prepare for client kickoff meetings (AND give you tools).

It’s never easy, never quick, but by standardizing the approach and systemizing your first 30 days you’ll lay the foundation for a successful project.

This 25-minute workshop is packed with information. You’ll walk away knowing:

  • An effective approach to getting your client to believe in you and getting them to believe in the problem you’ll solve.

  • How to systemize and streamline the process you can use and improve for every kickoff.

  • Strategies and tools to suss out supporters, naysayers and nimrods.

We promise it will be the most important 25 minutes of your day. But remember, you must be a member, so if you’re not already, apply now to register.

2. SCI: Define the Problem in the First 30 Days

Situation - Complication - Implication (SCI) is the most basic framework to structure and share your understanding of a problem with your client.

It’s the fundamental starting point for new work in the first 30 days, synthesizing the background and complications that must be considered in the solution.

The implication summarizes the “So what?” and calls for change.

3. Feast & Friends: A Supper Club Strategy for Biz Dev

Welcome to the world of Supper Clubs, where Dry January is behind us and we can look forward to a feast of monthly gatherings that’ll have your taste buds dancing all year!

Usually, people think of dinner parties as purely social - but what if you held an event in your home to mix friends and potential clients together?

It’s a great opportunity for relationship building that shows your personal side.

Here’s your formula for the perfect event:

  • The Magic Number. Start with a group of 8-12. This isn’t just a dinner party; it’s an opportunity to let your personal and professional connections simmer together.

  • Varied Menus, Vibrant Flavors. Travel the world from your dining table. Choose something that’s meaningful to you, from a Tuscan feast to a Tokyo-inspired sushi night.

  • Encourage Conversations. Switch up your seating. Don’t let people sit with the people they came with. Encourage guests to mix it up and engage with someone new.

  • Engage and Entertain. From backyard movies to cooking competitions, entertainment is key. It's not just about eating – it's about the joy and laughter shared around the table.

Whatever you do, don’t do this:
