1. 10 Minutes with Morgan Miller

This week I met with Morgan Miller, sales leader, technology executive, and bookworm. Her success as an interim CRO boils down to the right sponsorship and then carefully listening to the team.

But her real superpower is empathy - the human element and understanding people’s emotional hurdles. Past the grit, empathy has opened doors for the next level of her career.

For Morgan, this comes naturally, but for the rest of us mere mortals, her advice is to soften your edges (think step-kids, or therapy).

You don’t want to miss Morgan’s unique story and her incredible energy.

2. Watch Now: Everything You Need to Automate Your Consulting Business - Get the Guide!

Wow - I had SO much fun hosting our first workshop where I shared our methods for standing up your business operations as an indie consultant.

If you’re not already, all you have to do is become a Community member to access the workshop recording and download the accompanying resource, Business Operations for Indie Consultants: Our Guide.

Business Operations for Indie Consultants: Our Guide

In other good news, our February workshop is just around the corner, and this time we’ll look at topics to help you with your client work.

Join me on February 22nd and I'll share my repeatable approach and best practices for Client Kickoff meetings.

You'll walk away knowing how to systemize the first 30 days of your work to make effective use of your time, build your client’s trust and deliver a kickass kickoff.

3. Gifts and the Art of Efficiency

I try to give thoughtful, personalized gifts to clients when they least expect it.

Why?

I enjoy delighting with a little something that shows I care. And I’ve learned that gifts, when done right, are a strategic tool for building stronger, more meaningful business relationships.

I like to send them on unexpected but meaningful occasions, like promotions, the last day of school, or for no reason at all.

Showing you listen and share a client’s excitement about a specific event is more meaningful than a generic gift expected at the holidays.

My formula: Surprise + Quality > Expected + Expensive

But how? Thinking of personalized gifts in the moment isn’t a practical use of time. I like to be ready when the moment strikes, dropping gifts like unexpected snowflakes.

So, I keep a virtual “gift closet.”

The closet is a list of small items and vendors that I can send a gift in 24 hours in one click.

My go-to’s:

What do I avoid? Anything related to alcohol, or anything that takes up a lot of space.
